HC Deb 14 March 1977 vol 928 c96W
Mr. Thorpe

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will publish in the Official Report the names of the district general hospitals serving each of the counties of southern England, excluding Greater London, the catchment area served by each in terms of population and the distance to the next district general hospital.

Mr. Ennals

Specialist hospital services are in most health districts provided from a number of hospitals administered as a "district general hospital complex" Information about catchment population of, and distances between, individual general hospitals is not available nationally and, as there is a large number of such hospitals, could not be obtained except at disproportionate cost.
