asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) if the contract for building the new geriatric unit at Newtown, Powys, has been put out to tender; and, if not, what is the reason for the delay;

(2) if the contract for building the new geriatric unit at Llanidloes, Powys, has been put out to tender; and, if not, what is the reason for the delay.

rate bill in 1975–76 for the Metropolitan counties, the non-metropolitan counties of England and the counties of Wales, respectively, and (b) what estimates there are for the corresponding figures for 1976–77.

It is not possible to exclude the effect of rate rebates. Water charges are not an element in rate bills.

Tenders have not so far been invited for either scheme. Schemes in progress will fully take up the cash available in the current financial year. I am reviewing the position in the light of the resources likely to be available in 1977–78.
