§ Mr. Adleyasked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will give a general direction to the Chairman of British Railways to provide accounts which show the costs of the different services properly apportioned.
§ Mr. William RodgersThere is no unique method of apportionment appropriate to a statutory direction affecting audited accounts. I understand that the Railways Board is now considering the whole question of cost allocation, which it discussed in its response—"An Opportunity for Change"—to the transport consultation document.
