HC Deb 04 March 1977 vol 927 c349W
Mr. Alexander Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what proportion of the funds allocated for a commutation scheme to enable disabled people in receipt of mobility allowance to purchase a suitable vehicle has been allocated to Scotland; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alfred Morris

Mobility allowance is increasing very considerably the number of disabled people helped to achieve mobility appropriate to their own particular needs. No Government funds have been allocated for supplementing the mobility allowance for selected beneficiaries. I am, however, in close touch with my right hon. and hon. Friends who have responsibilities in this area, including my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland, about mobility policy generally and about proposals which the Central Council for the Disabled has put forward.
