HC Deb 29 June 1977 vol 934 cc264-5W
30. Mr. Joseph Dean

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what effect he estimates that the sale of council houses is having on housing revenue accounts, and the ratepayers in general; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Shore

The financial effects of council house sales will vary from area to area. The Government's general views on council house sales are expressed in the Green Paper on Housing Policy which was published yesterday.

36. Mr. Hugh Jenkins

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will issue a circular warning councils which sell their houses that councillors may be individually liable to meet any loss to public funds.

Mr. Armstrong

My right hon. Friend sees no need to issue such a circular.
