HC Deb 24 June 1977 vol 933 c601W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will advise the police as a general rule not to arrest Press photographers when doing their work and especially when they show their Press passes; and whether he will advise that care be taken to see that their cameras are not damaged or the films destroyed in the event of arrest and subsequent release.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The police have a responsibility to deal with anyone, no matter what his occupation, if they consider the law has been broken.
