§ Mr. MillanExamination of the reported cases of murder in Scotland in 1976 is now complete. Corrected, in accordance with normal practice for the annual Criminal Statistics, in the light of judicial determinations up to the end of the year, the number of cases of murder made known to the police is 63.
607WProvisional figures of attempted murder and crimes of violence made known to the police in 1976 are 159 and 4,442 respectively. Crimes of violence are defined as murder, attempt to murder, culpable homicide, assaults, threats, rape, assault with intent to ravish and indecent assault.
