HC Deb 23 June 1977 vol 933 c595W
Mrs. Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the effect on ths rateable value of a house of insulation including, double-glazing, and of the installation of solar water heating.

Mr. Guy Barnett

These improvements would, by themselves, have no effect at present on the rateable value of a house. This is because the addition of central heating, and the making of other improvements which would not in total increase the gross value of the dwelling by more than £30, are ignored until the next revaluation by virtue of Section 21 of the General Rate Act 1974.
