§ Mr. Harold WalkerSince available statistics of earnings are based on amounts paid by employers to employees for specified pay periods they do not cover those working on their own account, nor the total earnings of individuals with several sources of earnings. Moreover, separate results of the New Earnings Survey and other inquiries are not available for the particular groups specified. Information on rates of pay relates only to particular categories with nationally determined salaries. Comparable information is, therefore, not available in the form requested. However, I am having further inquiries made and will write to the hon. Gentleman when further information is available.
