§ Miss Richardson
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many (a) one-parent and (b) two-parent families with dependent children have earnings below the tax threshold; and how many of these are full-time and how many part-time employees.
§ Mr. Denzil Davies
The latest information relates to 1975 when, in Great Britain, 356,000 one-parent families and 540,000 two-parent families with dependent children had incomes below the tax threshold. Of these, 74,000 and 210,000, respectively, had heads of families in employment, but it is not known how many were full-time and how many part-time employees.
