Mr. Armstrong

The allocations which have been given for 1977–78 are listed in the following table; except those for council housing improvements which were listed in the reply I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Leicester, East (Mr. Bradley) on 5th April 1977— [Vol. 929, c. 449–56]. Estimates in respect of the remaining programmes were recently supplied by the local authorities and are currently under review; cash allocations cannot be made until that review is complete. Allocations to local authorities of the additional resources for local authority improvement works announced by my right hon. Friend on 2nd May has not yet been completed.

Mr. Watkinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list in the Official Report the grants made to private persons in 1977–78 for improvement and loans made for house purchase and improvement.

Mr. Armstrong

I gave expenditure allocations for these programmes in answer to the preceding Question from the hon. Member today. Information on payments will not be available until after the end of the financial year.
