Mr. Madden

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will take steps to ensure that all trade with Uganda is stopped, including consignments sent to Uganda by the Crown Agents via Stansted.

Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Trade (1) if he will ban any aircraft from Uganda landing at Stansted Airport;

(2) if he will consider imposing sanctions on trade between the United Kingdom and Uganda.

As my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister stated in answer to the right hon. Member for Roxburgh, Selkirk and Peebles (Mr. Steel) on 16th June, the question of the Stansted flights is under review.
