asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what were the percentages of graduate entry to the teaching profession in 1975 and 1976, respectively.

Of the new entrants to teaching in England and Wales in maintained nursery, primary and secondary schools in 1975, 37 per cent. were graduates. The equivalent percentage for 1976 was 47 per cent.
