§ 55. Mr. Edwin Wainwrightasked the Secretary of State for Social Services, in view of the reluctance by some general practitioners to practise in health centres because of certain restrictions that can be imposed by his Department, if he will examine the present arrangements to see what can be done to encourage general practitioners to practise in health centres.
§ Mr. MoyleIt is our policy to encourage the provision of health centres as a major part of the development of primary care services, and I am glad that the proportion of general medical practitioners who practise from health centres is continuing to increase. I do not know what restrictions my hon. Friend has in mind, but I trust that the guidance recently issued with health circular (77)8 after detailed consultations with representatives of the profession will help to resolve any uncertainties practitioners may have about the terms on which they can use health centre accommodation.
