§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he has been informed of any proposed redundancies at the GEC factory in East Lancaster Road, Liverpool; and, if so, what action he is taking.
§ Mr. GoldingThe English Electric Company Limited, a subsidiary company of GEC, notified my Department at the beginning of April of 375 redundancies which are due to occur between 6th July and 31st December 1977. This notification complied with the requirements of Section 100 of the Employment Protection Act 1975.
The temporary employment subsidy scheme has been drawn to the company's attention but no application has been made.
I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the Employment Service Agency has already commenced 469W interviewing and the full range of employment training services will be available to help those made redundant.
