Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the current unemployment figure in the Scottish economy; and what is the percentage increase over February 1974.

Mr. Golding

At 12th May, the number of people registered as nemployed in Scotland, excluding school leavers, and seasonally adjusted, was 164,163. This was 76.2 per cent. higher than in February 1974.
