HC Deb 20 June 1977 vol 933 cc334-5W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish a table showing the number of construction workers who have been unemployed for more than 26 weeks.

Mr. Golding

I regret that this information is not available; analyses combining industry and duration of unemployment are not compiled.

Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many people are currently unemployed in the construction industry in Scotland; and what this represents as a percentage increase on February 1974.

Mr. Golding

At 12th May, the number of people registered as unemployed in Scotland who last worked in the construction industry was 28,496. This was 52.2 per cent. more than in February 1974. The figures for individual industries are not available on a seasonally adjusted basis.
