Methanol Plants (Export to USSR)

Mr. Blaker

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether the recent contract concluded by Davy Powergas, ICI and Klockner to supply two methanol plants to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics falls within the arrangements made in 1975 to provide a line of credit of £950 million to that country; and how much of the line of credit has now been taken up.

This contract falls within the arrangements made under the Anglo-Soviet Credit Agreement of February 1975. Contracts concluded under the terms of this agreement now total £362 million.
