HC Deb 16 June 1977 vol 933 cc248-9W
Mr. David Mitchell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer for whose benefit the free phone service to tax districts outside London was introduced; whether all employers for whom it is available are advised to this effect; and what method is used to advise new employers who have set up since the initiation of the free phone service.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

The free phone service was introduced for those employers whose PAYE work was being transferred out of London. As stated in my reply on 10th May—[Vol. 931, c.461]—each employer was advised at the time of transfer of his PAYE work out of London and the service was not extended after 1969. New employers are not automatically notified of the free phone number.
