HC Deb 15 June 1977 vol 933 cc196-7W
Mr. Madden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will increase the addition paid to widows whose husbands die from an industrial disease, and the single payment which can be paid to such widows in place of the addition to the normal widow's pension.

Mr. Orme

It would not be appropriate at the present time to consider any change in the pattern of industrial death benefit in relation to widows since, as my hon. Friend is aware, the Royal Commission on Civil Liability and Compensation for Personal Injury under the chairmanship of Lord Pearson is considering the question of compensation for accidents generally. The Commission's report is expected later this year.
