§ Mr. Gordon Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many jobs are presently supported by the job creation programme in Dundee and Tayside; and how many jobs will be available for school leavers later in May.
§ Mr. Golding, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 27th May 1977; Vol. 932, c. 705], gave the following information:
I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the job creation programme is currently funding 793 jobs in the Tayside region, including 708 jobs in Dundee, and it is estimated that about 25 per cent. of these are filled by school leavers.
In May, 321 unfilled vacancies were available at careers offices in Tayside. This does not represent the full extent of opportunities available as not all suitable openings are notified to careers offices. These notified vacancies are not restricted to school leavers but are suitable for young people.
