Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Lord President of the Council whether he is satisfied with the progress of implementation of those sections of the Queen's Speech regarding (a) legislative proposals for the extension of industrial democracy, and (b) direct labour building by local authorities.

On industrial democracy, I refer the hon. Member to the answer given today by my right hon. Friend the Secretary for Trade to the hon. Member for Chelsea (Mr. Scott). The Government decided not to proceed this Session with legislation on direct labour organisations in the form foreshadowed in the Gracious Speech.
