HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 c511W
Mr. Cronin

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he is taking to liberalise the strategic embargo on exports.

Mr. Judd

The Government are fully aware of the need to allow as much freedom as possible to British exporters seeking to trade with Communist countries. But in this field it is, of course, essential to bear in mind the strategic interests of the United Kingdom. Accordingly, officials keep limitations on exports of a strategic nature under continual review and regular consultations are held on this subject with countries having similar interests.
