asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) when his Department notified the local planning authorities of Arfon Borough and Mr.Gwynedd Country Councils relative to their intentions of reconstructing Point Seiont on the A487 near Caernarvon, so that information on their intentions could be considered relative to any planning application or search on a property affected by the scheme;
(2) what steps his Department took to discuss with, or notify, houseowners whose property is directly affected by the proposals for improvement of Pont Seiont 351W on the A487 near Caernarvon, prior to the publication of the possible alternative schemes on the bridge.
§ Mr. Barry Jones
The views of the public on the alternative schemes for the improvement at Pont Seiont were sought during the public participation exercise which ended on 15th July. When these have been considered my right hon. and learned Friend will select a preferred line of which local planning authorities will be notified for the purposes of Section 192 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1971. In line with the provisions of the Highways Acts 1959–71 the Welsh Office does not enter into discussion with any interested or affected individual or organisation prior to my right hon. and learned Friend's decision on the choice of a route.
