§ Mr. Rathboneasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has for making available more frequencies for industrial use of mobile radio; what estimate he has made of future frequency needs; and how those estimates are affected by the present Home Office policy regarding the issue of mobile radio licences.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThere are sufficient frequencies to cater for those mobile radio services until further frequency bands can be opened up following the 1979 World Administrative Radio Conference.. Our provisional estimate is that an additional 70–90 MHz will be needed for all civil land mobile radio services. This estimate, which is still under examination, is not constrained by present licensing policy.
