The estimated total cost during the four year conversion period ending 31st March 1978 is £161 million, including provision for redundancy and compensation, etc., payments to local authority motor taxation office staff.
§ Mr. Richard Wainwrightasked the Secretary of State for Transport how many of the 2,086 people employed in local vehicle taxation departments due to be closed, owing to the transfer of this function to Swansea, are employed in each respective region of the United Kingdom.
