Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the average number of teeth extracted per full-time dental officer in the School Dental Service in 1976; and what was the comparable figure in the Leek parliamentary constituency.

The average number of teeth extracted per full-time dental officer in the School Dental Service in England in 1976 was 723. Information is not available in respect of parliamentary constituencies, but the comparable figure for the area of the Staffordshire Area Health Authority was 1,093.

On average, 1,980 teeth were filled per full-time dental officer in the School Dental Service in England in 1976. Information is not available in respect of parliamentary constituencies, but the comparable figure for the area of the Staffordshire Area Health Authority was 1,826.
