HC Deb 19 July 1977 vol 935 cc514-5W
Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many women were in full-time employment in each of the employment areas in the Leek parliamentary constituency on 1st January in 1966, 1968, 1970, 1972, 1974, 1976 and 1977: and what proportion of the female population of working age these figures represent.

Mr. Golding

The numbers of female employees in full-time employment in the employment office areas concerned are shown in the table below for 1972, 1974 and 1975, the latest date for which figures are available for local areas. As corresponding figures relating solely to full-time employees are not available for 1970 and previous years, the table also gives figures of the total numbers of female employees, full-time and part-time, for the various years from 1966.

I regret that sufficient comparable information is not available for the calculation of a full reply to the second part of the Question. However, figures from the 1971 census of population for the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council area show
