§ Mr. Arnoldasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how much ivory, both by volume and price, was imported into Hong Kong for the period during which figures are most recently available.
§ Mr. LuardThe information requested is as follows:
Considerable efforts have been made to obtain this information. It has not proved possible to obtain figures that would permit meaningful comparisons with other EEC countries. I have written to the hon. Member to explain the difficulties. The latest available estimate— mid-1975—for the United Kingdom is 0.09 civilian employees of central and local government per head of population.
