HC Deb 21 January 1977 vol 924 c356W
Mr. Peter Bottomley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list in the Official Report the number of claimants drawing regular weekly additions for heating, sub-dividing this total between those who are pensioners, and other claimants and further classifying, all information according to whether claimants are receiving 70p, £1.40 or £2.10 weekly additions.

Mr. Deakins

The information requested is not yet available.

In May 1976, before the introduction of the current rates, 574,000 supplementary beneficiaries—including 515,000 pensioners—were being paid additions at the lower rate; 268,000–238,000 pensioners—the middle rate; 19,000–16,000 pensioners—at the higher rate, and 239,000–143,000 pensioners—at other rates.
