Mr. John Moore

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) how many trade unions there are in the United Kingdom with membership in excess of 20,000; and, from information available to him from international sources, how many there are in the USA and in Western Germany;

(2) how many people were in employment at 1st January 1977; how many of those were members of trade unions; and if he will give, from international sources available to him, similar figures for the USA and Western Germany;

(3) if he will list the largest 10 trade unions in the United Kingdom in numerical order, indicating their size and giving corresponding figures for the USA and Western Germany, from international sources available to him.
