§ Mr. Richard Wainwrightasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list in the Official Report the total population of each town where a spot check on low wages has recently been carried out by his Department's Wages Inspectorate.
§ Mr. John GrantFollowing the implementation of the Local Government Act 1972 and the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, recent population figures are no longer available for all the towns concerned; the figures are now compiled for the new districts, which in many cases cover a wider area than the towns themselves. In the list of towns below, where spot checks on low wages were carried out, population figures are given for 1975 where they still relate to the towns and for 1973 where current figures for the towns are no longer compiled.
