HC Deb 17 January 1977 vol 924 cc8-9W
Mr. Stainton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the financial implications to date of the acquisition and making ready of six leaseholds in several parts of the country and constructing a new Crown building in Plymouth intended for the administration of the wealth tax.

Mr. Marks

The annual rent of the accommodation which has been leased for the administration of capital taxes is about £800,000. Capital costs on the leased accommodation are about £400,000. The estimated cost of the Crown building under construction in Plymouth is £2.1 million.

For the proportion of these costs attributable to the proposed wealth tax I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given on 16th December to my hon. Friend the Member for Chorley (Mr. Rodgers) by my hon. Friend, the Minister of State, Treasury.—[Vol. 922, c. 848.]
