§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Lord President of the Council whether he will take action himself or refer to the Boyle Committee for consideration that Members of Parliament should have the voluntary right of retiring on pension at 60 years of age in the same manner as all other public servants.
§ Mr. FootThe Review Body on Top Salaries has already considered the question of early retirement for a Member of Parliament. Paragraphs 56 and 57 of their Report No. 8 refer. As I said in my statement on 12th July 1976, the Government do not propose to take further action on this report until incomes policy permits comprehensive proposals to be put before the House.
