HC Deb 13 January 1977 vol 923 cc583-4W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if the five remaining claims from local authorities in the West Midlands relating to compensation due to the construction of the M6 motorway have yet been settled; and, if not, when he expects settlement.

Mr. Horam

The position is as follows:

  1. A. Land at Bromford, owned by Birmingham; a response from the council on the extent of their claim is awaited.
  2. B. Land at Gravelly Hill and Castle Bromwich, owned by Birmingham MBC: the amount of compensation has been agreed in both cases and settlements will be made as soon as the legal formalities have been completed.
  3. C. Land at Birmingham Road, Great Barr, owned by Walsall MBC: a response from the council on the extent of its claim is awaited.
  4. D. Land at Birmingham Road, Great Barr, owned by Sanwell MBC: a substantial payment on account has been made to the council, which has requested that certain works be carried out before conveyancing is completed.

Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what was the final cost of erecting the noise barrier along the elevated section of the M6 motorway at Great Barr and Perry Beeches, Birmingham.

Mr. Horam

The final cost of the noise barrier is £112,350.
