§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe estimated expenditure on pay for police officers in forces in England and Wales for 1975–76 was £346,722,000. The provisional figure for actual expenditure is £412,033,000. The difference between the two figures reflects a combination of growth in numbers and the effect of the September 1975 pay award.
