HC Deb 24 February 1977 vol 926 c691W
47. Mr. Corbett

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what would be the estimated loss of income tax if relief were given on commuter rail monthly season tickets costing £30 a month or more at (a) 10 per cent. and (b) 20 per cent.

Mr. Denzil Davies

I regret that the information needed to provide precise estimates is not available. However, if expenditure on all railway season tickets were relieved at the rates postulated, it is estimated that the current cost would exceed £15 million and £30 million respectively.
