Mr. Peter Bottomley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list in the Official Report the numbers of persons who have obtained help under the job search scheme for each year since it was first introduced; and if he will also detail the cost of the scheme for each of the relevant years.

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the information on the cost of the job search scheme since it started on 5th November 1975 is not available. The number of persons assisted between 1st January 1976 and 30th September 1976 was 10,160. The figures for the period 5th November 1975 to 31st December 1975 as not available.
