Mr. Macfarlane

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many associations are represented on the Youth Service Forum; and whether any officials from the Sports Council or the Central Council for Physical Recreation have been invited to assist.

Mr. Ford

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science why there is no representation of sports organisations on the recently announced Youth Service Forum for England and Wales; and if she will make a statement.

Thirteen organisations are represented on the forum. They do not include the Sports Council or the Central Council for Physical Recreation, since neither is a Youth Service organisation. But my right hon. Friend is currently considering the recommendation made by the forum at its first meeting that she should make an appointment to represent the interests of sport and recreation.
