HC Deb 21 February 1977 vol 926 c476W
Mr. Scott-Hopkins

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether she is satisfied that the supervision at the Turnlee Youth Centre, Glossop, on the night of 4th July 1976 when four children from Bakewell were killed, was adequate; and whether she will instigate an inquiry.

Miss Margaret Jackson

I have no evidence that this tragedy was attributable to inadequate supervision. The inquest has raised the question whether the boiler was correctly installed. This question is now sub judice and I therefore cannot comment further.
