HC Deb 21 February 1977 vol 926 c447W
Mr. Kenneth Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how much remains outstanding and unpaid to the National Insurance Fund of Class 1, Class 2 and Class 4 contributions due from those in multiple employment and self-employment for the year 1974–75.

Mr. Orme

For the year 1974–75 it is estimated that the total amount of national insurance graduated contributions not collected was approximately £1 million, but it is not possible to specify how much of that sum related to multiple employments.

No record was kept of flat-rate contributions not collected and Class 4 contributions were not levied until the year 1975–76.
