§ Mr. Sproatasked the Secretary of State for Social Services under what circumstances his Department will give another Giro cheque for the same exceptional needs when the claimant says that he has lost the first cheque for those needs; on how many occasions this has happened in the last 12 months for which figures are available; and how much it has cost.
§ Mr. OrmeGiro cheques for exceptional needs are normally replaced, if enquiries show the loss to be genuine. Earlier replacement may be considered in cases of urgent need. No separate records are kept.
