§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the average costs per case incurred by leaseholders who have contested the price of the freehold before the Lands Tribunal under the provisions of the Leasehold Reform Act 1967, in each year since 1967; and what are the average costs per leaseholder who (a) has won a reduction in the freehold price asked by the ground landlord and (b) has failed to win a reduction at the Tribunal.
§ The Attorney-GeneralI have been asked to reply.
This information is not available, because such costs are not known to the Tribunal unless the leaseholder was legally aided or obtained an order providing for his costs to be paid by the landlord. Even when an order for costs has been made the Tribunal is only aware of the amount if the costs have been taxed by the Registrar of the Tribunal in default of agreement between the parties
