HC Deb 16 February 1977 vol 926 cc288-9W
Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what are the minimum, maximum and average duration of jobs created in connection with the job creation programme.

Mr. Golding

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that currently there is no laid down minimum duration for projects under the job creation programme. However, projects due to last for less than three months are not normally approved. The maximum duration is 12 months and the average is 30 weeks.

Sir P. Bryan

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what sums have been allocated to the United Kingdom, Yorkshire and Humberside and Scotland, respectively, by the Manpower Services Commission for job creation programmes.

Mr. Golding

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the sums allocated under the job creation programme to Great Britain, Yorkshire and Humberside and Scotland are £105 million, £8 million and £24.5 million, respectively. The programme does not extend to the whole of the United Kingdom.
