HC Deb 16 February 1977 vol 926 c232W
40. Mr. Geoffrey Johnson Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment by how much housing subsidies have been cut in real terms for 1977–78.

Mr. Freeson

There is no such cut. The estimated total cost of housing subsidies in England for 1977–78, including rate fund contributions but excluding rent rebates and rent allowances, is £1,203 million at 1976 Survey prices, which is £118 million more than the corresponding estimate for the current year on the same price basis.
