HC Deb 16 February 1977 vol 926 c220W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if there are any circumstances when a disabled person discharged from a hospital, on a day other than a Monday cannot receive a social security payment before the following Monday.

Mr. Orme

Almost all social security payments have a regular pay day, which may be Monday; and benefit is not normally paid for part of a week when a patient is discharged from a hospital. A payment of supplementary benefit can be made in cases of urgent need. If the hon. Lady has a particular case or point in mind, perhaps she will be good enough to let me know.
