HC Deb 16 February 1977 vol 926 cc251-2W
57. Mr. John Hunt

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether, in the light of Recommendation 793 and Recommendation 803 of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Her Majesty's Government will support the use of the Council of Europe as a clearing house between the member States of the Community and the other member States of the Council of Europe not belonging to the Community on all matters relating to European solidarity.

Mr. Tomlinson

Her Majesty's Government agree that the Council of Europe has an important part to play as a means of communication between the Community and western European countries. We are in broad agreement with Recommendations 793 and 803 which are now being considered by the Council's Committee of Ministers.
