§ Mr. Trotterasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will arrange for the Royal Marines to mount the guard at Buckingham Palace for a period during 1977 in the same way as the RAF Regiment so that all three services 193W may have the honour during the Queen's Silver Jubilee year.
§ Mr. DuffyNo. Owing to operational, training and other commitments, a detachment of Royal Marines could not be made available for guard duty at Buckingham Palace during 1977. The Royal Marines already have a full programme of participation in Silver Jubilee celebrations, including an inspection by Her Majesty the Queen at Plymouth on 5th August 1977.
