asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what will be the total estimated cost in redundancy payments if the educational colleges suggested for closure are shut down.

Mr. McElhone

I refer the hon. Member to the reply that I gave to the hon. Member for Edinburgh, West (Lord James Douglas-Hamilton) on 25th January—[Vol. 924, c.563.]

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland with reference to the reply Official Report, 3rd February, column 289, what weight he attaches to the stated factors which affect viability of a particular college.

As I indicated in my earlier reply, this is a matter of judgement in the light of all the relevant factors.—[Vol. 925, c.289.]
