§ Mr. Stan Crowtherasked the Secretary of State for Transport what was the amount of the transport supplementary grant allocated to South Yorkshire County Council; and for what purpose the money withheld as a result of that authority's non-compliance with his policy on fares has now been allocated.
§ Mr. William RodgersHad the county council agreed to my request for reductions in its overall transport expenditure proposals for 1977–78 it would have received transport supplementary grant (TSG) of about £4 million, at November 1975 prices, instead of £291,000. As a result, the amount at aggregate Exchequer grant distributed through TSG was correspondingly reduced.
